Overview

An established and growing accountancy firm is seeking an enthusiastic accountant to join their expanding charity team on a fixed-term contract. In this client-facing role, you’ll manage a portfolio of charity clients across Kent, supporting a partner with Independent Examinations and accounts preparation from planning to completion. You’ll also prepare and oversee accounts for a variety of not-for-profit organisations, while mentoring junior team members, reviewing their work, and supporting their development. Alongside this, you’ll work closely with managers and partners on the day-to-day running of their portfolios, contributing to the overall success of the team.

The position is Monday–Friday, 37.5hrs per week with hybrid working available.

Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications.  Higher salaries can be discussed.

Duties

  • Lead and support a portfolio of charity clients.
  • Ensure proactive contact and strong client advocacy.
  • Act as a key point of contact for other charity clients.
  • Maximise delivered work across the portfolio.
  • Support a partner in leading Independent Examinations.
  • Oversee accounts preparation from planning to completion.
  • Compile accounts for a range of not-for-profit clients.
  • Train and supervise assistants.
  • Review their work and support their development.
  • Assist managers and partners with running their portfolios.
  • Collaborate with teams across Kent.
  • Ensure timely responses to client communications.
  • Uphold service promises and deadlines.

What we're looking for

A successful candidate for this role will have strong experience in UK accountancy, be very familiar with charity SORP and live within a 1hr commute of Chatham or Canterbury.
